In the state of Florida last year Oxycodone abuse caused more deaths than any other drug - 941 deaths were attributed to the opioid. The National Institute on Drug Abuse speculates that legal but highly addictive opioids, depressants and stimulants are increasingly in demand because they're readily accessible. The institute reported that an estimated 6.3 million Americans in 2004 used prescription medications for non-medical purposes.
