Man Celebrates Clean Drug Test By Overdosing on Narcotics

The St. Petersburg Times has a story about a 23 year old Florida man overdosed on morphine while celebrating passing his court ordered drug test. Mike Berg of Polk County was found dead 13 hours later after drinking a shot of liquid morphine as well as drinking vodka and beer.

Tampabay.com reported that the Polk County Sheriff's Office and a poison expert were surprised that Berg lived for at least eight hours after taking a shot of morphine. Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Carrie Eleazer said it's possible that Berg may have awakened and drunk more of the morphine.

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), 21.4 percent of employed adults used illicit drugs within the past month.
