PA State Troopers - 16,900 DUI's in 2009

The PA State Police announced that in 2009 they made 16,900 DUI arrests. The PA State Police boast that their efforts to keep alcohol impaired drivers off the road have reduced the rates of alcohol related driving fatalities and crashes. fatalities dropped 14% and vehicle crashes dropped 1%. In 2008, State Police efforts snagged 16,156 on DUI's.

PA State Police Commissioner Col. Frank E. Pawlowski said. "Our troopers are helping to save lives by cracking down hard on those who drink and drive." Pawlowski concluded, "It's clear that our efforts to keep impaired drivers off our roads in Pennsylvania are having a positive impact."
