Schools With Random Drug Testing Programs Can Teach Employers How To Keep Workplace Safe!

Random Drug Testing
Businesses should learn from a recent study of random drug testing in our nation's school system. A recent study by the Institute of Education Sciences reported that students subject to random drug tests in their schools reported less substance abuse than students in schools with out a testing program. Employers should analyze the broad results of this study and apply it to their work force. Marc Keith, Port Neches-Groves High School Principal believes that the random drug-testing program at his school, which is in its third year, is an effective tool for reducing drug instances on campus. Keith concluded, "I know the data we've seen through the years have shown a lot less drug activity," he said.

Employers should consult with an industry expert when implementing employee drug testing. Mobile Medical Corporation, a Pittsburgh based drug testing and occupational medical services firm offers on-site and mobile drug collection options for the following drug testing scenarios:

Random or “spot” drug testing works as a drug use deterrent because these programs are conducted in an unannounced and unpredictable manner.
